2007 Health Care Reform Forum Summary


The LWV of Orange, Durham, and Chatham Counties and the UNC-CH School of Social Work Clinical Lecture Series sponsored a Health Care Forum on September 29, 2007. Approximately 130 attended the forum.

Among the challenges discussed were
- access to health care for individuals, families and the community.
- individual involvement in the promotion of universal access to health care.
- presidential candidate rhetoric on health care.
- identifying information on how to approach legislators in ways that will be effective.

Forum Presenters were:
- Verla Insko, State Representative
- Jonathan Oberlander, Associate Professor, Social Medicine and Health Policy & Administration, UNC-CH
- Adam Searing, Project Director of the North Carolina Health Access Coalition, NC Justice Center
